Children's Discovery Museum...

We didn't want the fun to end, so the next weekend we headed to the Children's Discovery Museum.  I'm glad we checked it out, but Maya is still a little young to really enjoy it all.  The water area, however, was a hit!  I think we'll have a lot of fun once she's a little older!

Slynger family fun weekend part 2...Half Moon Bay

Day 2 was Half Moon Bay.  We had two major stops on our agenda...Lemos Farm (she loved the animals!) and the beach!  Brad in particular was very excited to show Maya the ocean for the first time.  It was a moment I'll never forget!  We had an AWESOME day!

Slynger family fun weekend part 1...Happy Hallow

Brad and I decided to get out of the weekend rut and take Maya somewhere fun.  Our usual outings were getting a little stale and we wanted a new adventure.  First up... Happy Hallow!  Maya loves animals so we headed straight for the zoo and finished the day with a ride on Danny the dragon :)
I'm feeling like a girl of few words today, plus I'm extremely behind on my blogging, so please let the pictures speak for themselves!

11 months...

My little baby girl is ONE MONTH away from being ONE!!!  My oh my...where did the time go?!?!

Maya is on fire right now!!  She is learning and growing SO MUCH!  She is starting to understand quite a bit and it's fun to see her respond to different things we say or show her.
She's learning where her head and belly are and will sometimes point at or grab each when you ask.
She often gives the appropriate "maya" responses for clap your hands, stomp your feet, give a roar and shout hooray, when we sing the "If your happy and you know it" song.
She is getting more consistent with her mealtime signs and has used milk, eat, please and all done when asked.
She LOVES animals and gets very excited whenever she sees birds or dogs and is very interested in any other "new" animal she encounters.  We recently bought a beta fish, Rosie, and Maya loves greeting Rosie every morning and automatically signs 'fish' when she sees her.

She's into everything these days so I have a to watch out!  She loves to look through and play in the kitchen drawers...fortunately her favorites are all pretty safe.  But not everything is fully child proof and I think I might say "Maya, no cords, no touch"at least 10 times a day....little stinker.
Reorganizing her food

She is officially on the move and is quite the speedy crawler.  She is learning how to get around the house and will come crawling to find us if we are in other rooms.   She's walking really well holding my fingers or pushing her stroller and has recently started to figure out how to maneuver away from obstacles and around corners.  She not walking on her own yet, but we feel like it could be soon!
Pushing her car down the hall

Musical genius??  Perhaps...

Loves her new toys from Christmas!

Graduated to the big tub!  Bye bye duckie!

Tea party with Grammy!

Best bed head yet!
Just chatting on the phone...

I can't believe we'll be celebrating her birthday in less than a month!!  She brings us more joy than we ever imagined and I'm so blessed to spend each day with this sweet little face :)

Christmas...

With my family in California and Brad's in Washington, we had a two part Christmas so we could see both sides.  Since the flight to WA is under 2 hours, it works really well to leave early Christmas morning and have all of Christmas day in Washington.

We spent Christmas eve in California.  It was great to spend time with our family and fun to see Maya open her first Christmas gifts!

Opening gifts

Paul is dying to see Maya have her first taste of lemon, so this gift was the symbolic "green light" to have the lemon tasting!

She was a little unsure what to do, but eventually figured out how to rip at the paper

I feel like this picture needs a caption!  What is she saying?!?!

Then we headed to WA Christmas morning.  I was really anxious about a 6:30am flight but Maya did awesome and slept from take off to touch down.  Awesome!
We loved our time in Washington and really miss our family there.  Maya had a great time with her cousins, especially Isaac who is two and adores her!  It was really sweet to see them together!
Auntie Deanna got her Maya fix!

Joan, Deanna and I decided to do DIY gifts this year.  I  made them menu dry erase boards, a necklace for Deanna and a jewelry dish for Joan, Joan made slippers and Deanna made tote bags and a notebook.  It was really fun and I'm excited for the tradition to continue!

We were able to visit Pike Place market on this trip.  Brad and I hadn't been in years and of course this was Maya's first trip.

Love Seattle!  Can't wait to come back and visit again!
