Boatlift

Wow, awesome!  I had never heard this part of the story.  Makes my heart smile...so proud!

Gurgling

Half the time Maya drinks from her sippy cup, she ends up doing this...
Maybe she'll be diligent with the mouthwash??

7 months...

We're officially on the downward slope to ONE :(  It's going by too fast!!  Maya Bette turned 7 months on Monday, September 12th...

Maya is so much fun right now!  As you can see above, she's officially sitting on her own fairly well.  She'll still topple over on occasion, but generally has her balance and can sit unassisted for longer periods of time.
Also above, I can put her hair in a ponytail!  So fun to have multiple hair-do options!

She's doing great with solids and is starting to eat more and really enjoy her options.  She now eats solids 2-3 times a day and I try to make sure she gets a mix of cereal, fruits, veggies and yogurt.  She's now tried:
Rice & Oatmeal Cereal
Avocado
Sweet Potatoes
Bananas
*Peaches
*Pears
Apples
*Prunes
Carrots
Zucchini
Green Beans
*Yogurt (Yo Baby Peach flavored)
*Her favorites

She's laughing lots more and babbling tons!  She now babbles:
Ya-ya-ya-ya
Ma-ma-ma-ma (rare)
Pa-pa-pa or Ba-ba-ba (not sure)
Gurrrr (deep throat-y sound)
She loves the sound of gurgling her water when I give her the sippy cup after solids
She's also found her high pitch shriek...a personal favorite >_<

She's putting everything in her mouth, so we really need to watch her these days.  Whatever is within reach, she'll try to grab and suck on.  The old remote and my mini spatula are some of her favorites...

She's loving her jumperoo more than ever these days and is particularly happy when mom dances to the music for her.  She'll just stare up at me with a huge grin!

Maya loves her time with dad, particularly reading with him and their walks outside.  Brad will point out things outside like the birds and the moon in the evening and Maya will look and seem very interested :)

We continue to be involved with friends and different play groups and it's fun to see Maya check out other kids.  She's generally more aware of her surroundings and taking it all in!

She's also sleeping great these days.  She generally takes 2-3 naps during the day; the first around 8:30am, then around 12:30pm and depending on the length of the second, she might take a third around 4pm or so.
She's falling asleep on her own and is going to bed around 7:30pm and waking in the morning (no more night waking/feeding- woo hoo!) around 6am (or sometimes earlier...we need to work on sleeping in!)

Overall, she's becoming a very happy girl (mostly) and such a joy!  I'm loving every minute!

Feeling Crafty...

I know you didn't think it was possible, but guess what?!?!  It's a post that's not about Maya!!  Crazy.

I got together with some of my dearest girlfriends for a craft night!  We all had creative energy that we needed to channel, but most of us just don't have the time (or lack creative skills) to work on crafty projects.  We decided to set time aside to get together, hang out and work on a craft.

With a huge desire and little skill, I choose friendship bracelets...very middle school of me.  I was able to make one for each of the girls as a sign of my "complete devotion" :)

Lacie, our gracious hostess, made super cute baby head bands with elastic bands and homemade yo-yos...Maya is on the wait list!

Kacey, the craft guru, worked on her adorable crochet hats with crochet flowers...she's very talented and will be teaching me to quilt!  I can't wait!
Michelle brought cards and wrote notes for some friends while Cheryl put together some paper books for kids at school.   And Courtney made some jewelry!

It was fun to get out our creative energy, but any excuse to get together with these girls works for me!

Morning story time with dad...

love moments like this...

Happy Birthday...

Happy Birthday to the woman who inspires me everyday as I tackle mommy-hood.  I only wish Maya B got to meet and experience the joy and love of her Grandma Bette.  I'm excited to share all the stories with her as she grows up!
She was an amazing mother and the best friend.  I miss her now more than ever and will carry our memories in my heart forever.

Happy Birthday Mama!  Love you!

Maya and Cailin...

My dear friend Mandy has two little girls, Abby and Cailin.  Abby is two and Cailin is four months.  I love that we both have little girls and that Maya and Cailin are only three months apart... so fun!  I look forward to watching these girls grow up together and I'm sure they'll end up great friends like their mommies!

Here are the girls at one week and 3 months respectively...little peanuts!

And just the other day...

With big sis and leader of the pack, Abby :)

Just because...

love this little monkey
